Unfortunately, I haven’t had the energy to post in a while. All of you interns / full time employees know the feeling - you get home from a hard day of work, crash on your couch, and feel like doing nothing until it’s bed time.
However, there’s been a set of very pretty photos (as always, not taken by me) of amazing japanese food sitting in my photobucket account, and the anonymous photographer has been gently prodding me to post them for a while now.
I don’t blame him. The meal at Megu Midtown was incredible - each dish, from the rich red miso soup to the thinly sliced kobe beef, was beautiful, intricately prepared, and fun to eat. It’s what you’d expect from a restaurant at Trump Towers.

Battered, fried shrimp with a spicy sauce

Yellowtail Carpaccio with a chili kanzuri sauce

Chu-toro and spicy scallop sushi

Miso glazed silver cod

Red miso soup

The “Bento Box” - a spring roll, croquette, and fresh salad with roasted tomato

Chu-toro sushi (as part of the bento)

Silver cod, lobster quiche, kobe beef

Green tea crepe cake

Tiramisu
Although my fish was decadently soft and flavorful, I was seriously jealous of Eric’s bento box because it captured everything I like about upscale Japanese restaurants like Morimoto, Matsugen, and Nobu - variety, spot-on execution, and creativity.
Who knew you could find a tasting menu at 26 a person?
